Uganda Cricket Association will kick off the 2018 Mini Cricket Season in the Districts of Kamuli, Luwero and Iganga.
The competition which is open to only primary school pupils starts with the district competitions with the winners moving to the regional competitions and climaxes in Kampala where the various regional winners compete for the overall title.
Mini Cricket which is played with a soft ball and plastic has both girls and boys competing in U-11 and U13 age groups.
Balawoli Primary School from Kamuli were the U-11 winners in the girls category last year and they will be the school to look out for when the district competition gets underway.
The competition will run for 2 days March 16th-17th and will be conducted by Uganda Cricket Development Officers Baker Elonge (Kamuli and Iganga) and Ronald Wakamara (Luwero).
The program has produced national team players like Kyobe Arthur and Charles Waiswa who played for Magwa Primary School in Jinja and former Cricket Cranes Captain Davis Karashani who played for Lohana Academy.
