Sky View Girls' Schools Cricket Week 2025 - Match-Day Four Report | Gulu – May 7, 2025
Rain again made its presence felt in Gulu, but there was no shortage of drama on Match-Day Four. From nail-biters to dominant displays and hard-earned maiden wins, the girls lit up the five venues with skill and spirit. Here's your round-up:

MORNING SESSION

Mt. Rwenzori SS vs Masaka SS – @Gulu High Ground                                                               

Masaka SS 59 all out (16.3 overs) | Mt. Rwenzori SS 36 all out (15.4 overs)
Masaka SS won by 23 runs
In a rain-shortened 17-over contest, Masaka defended a modest score thanks to a disciplined bowling effort. Caroline Mbambu (3/11) starred for Mt. Rwenzori with the ball, but the western side faltered in the chase. Penina Natabo, Florence Kaijuka, and Mary Sandra Nyesigire took two wickets each to hand Masaka their fourth win.

Nyakasura School vs Ndejje SS – @Gulu Primary School Ground

Ndejje SS won by 8 wickets
Central champions Ndejje SS finally got off the mark. Alexander Nassuna (3/6) and Daniella Nalwoga (2/4) dismantled Nyakasura’s batting unit. A composed 21 from Blessing Apio guided Ndejje to a comfortable win in the rain-hit clash.

Gayaza High School vs Masindi SS – @Gulu Prison Ground

Masindi SS won by 4 runs
A thrilling five-over slugfest saw Masindi SS edge past Gayaza High in slippery conditions. Prisca Kyosaba hit a crucial 19, while Tracy Nabwire impressed with bat and ball. Safina Kyosaba’s brace and two run-outs denied Gayaza a famous win.

Gulu High School vs Good Heart SS – @St. Joseph’s College Layibi Ground                                 

Gulu High School 99/6 (20 overs) | Good Heart SS 89/8 (20 overs)
Gulu High School won by 10 runs
Home support lifted Gulu High to their first win, defending a decent total built around Lucky Avoo (16) and Babra Lamara (20). Despite a spirited chase, Good Heart fell short by 10 runs in a nail-biting finish.

☀️ AFTERNOON SESSION

Gayaza High School vs Good Heart SS – @Gulu High Ground                                                       

Good Heart SS 24 all out (11.2 overs) | Gayaza High School 25/4 (5.4 overs)
Gayaza High School won by 6 wickets
Gayaza bounced back with a commanding win over fellow strugglers Good Heart. Agartha Akankunda (4/10), Tracy Nabwire (3/4), and Phoebe Nakiyimba (3/6) shared the spoils. A total of 22 extras eased Gayaza’s chase as they picked up their first points.

Mt. St. Henry’s High School vs Olila High School – @Layibi College Ground 2

Olila High School won by 9 wickets
Olila’s dominance continued with a sixth straight victory. Immaculate Nandera (3/4) and her slow bowling trio - Martha Amayo, Lorna Anyait, and Devine Gabriella Nyamer - swept through St. Henry’s. Joan Ilora (26*) chased it down in style as Olila stayed top with 24 points.

Jinja SS vs St. James SS – @Layibi College Ground                                                               

Jinja SS 146/5 (18 overs) | St. James SS 29/3 (15.3 overs) [DLS Method]
Jinja SS won by 91 runs (DLS Method)
Jinja’s top-order clicked again, with Stella Nabirye (29) and Janet Nassiwa (27) providing a strong base. Rain forced a DLS finish, but St. James were always behind the rate. Jinja now sit second on the points log in Group A with 17 points.

Sacred Heart SS vs St. John’s SS – @Gulu Primary Ground
Sacred Heart SS 92/8 (17 overs) | ?️ Match abandoned due to rain
Match drawn – points shared
Tamu Lakareber top-scored with 28 as Sacred Heart posted a competitive total before rain halted proceedings and denied St. John’s a chance to chase.

Masaka SS vs Light SS – @Gulu Prison Ground

Match drawn – points shared

Masaka SS struggled with the bat before rain washed out the second innings. They remain top of Group A with 18 points from six games, including four wins and two No-Results.
