Sky View Girls' Schools Cricket Week 2025 - Match-Day Five Report | Gulu – May 8, 2025
Weather-related interruptions lingered on in Gulu, but the action on Match-Day Five was relentless. As semifinal spots loom large, every run and wicket matters. From heroic chases to defensive masterclasses, here’s your full round-up from the nine games played across five venues.

☀️ MORNING SESSION

Light SS vs Iganga SS – @Gulu High Ground
Light SS 37 all out (15.4 overs) | Iganga SS 20 all out (15.5 overs)
Light SS won by 17 runs
In a tense, low-scoring battle, Light SS defended 37 in dramatic fashion to stay alive in the race for the semifinals. Despite a strong bowling display from Iganga captain Prudence Lamara (3 wickets, 2 maidens), her side faltered during the chase. Rita Alio (3/2) starred with the ball as Iganga were bowled out for just 20, including 10 extras. Gritty, nervy, unforgettable.

Mt. St. Henry’s High vs Sacred Heart SS – @Gulu Primary Ground
Mt. St. Henry’s 24/2 (10 overs) | Sacred Heart SS 25/1 (3.4 overs)
Sacred Heart SS won by 9 wickets
Sacred Heart continued their fine form with a routine win in a rain-reduced fixture. After limiting St. Henry’s to 24, Patricia Anek (11*) led a brisk reply to secure a comfortable chase and firm up their grip on second place in Group B.

Ndejje SS vs St. James SS – @Layibi Ground
Ndejje SS 171/5 (20 overs) | St. James SS 28 all out (17 overs)
Ndejje SS won by 143 runs
This one was a statement win. Ndejje SS dominated with bat and ball, as Blessing Apio (46) and Esther Arikot (43) powered them to 171. Their bowlers then tore through St. James, with Paula Mwebaza and Apio bagging two wickets apiece to seal their biggest margin of victory so far.

Gayaza High School vs Gulu High School – @Gulu Prison Ground
 Match abandoned – No Result
Wet outfield conditions forced an abandonment without a ball bowled. Both teams shared points as their semifinal hopes took a hit.

 AFTERNOON SESSION

St. John SS vs Masindi SS – @Gulu High Ground
Masindi SS 55 all out (16.2 overs) | St. John SS 57/4 (11.5 overs)
St. John SS won by 6 wickets
St. John SS bagged a vital win to stay in the semifinal picture. Irene Mutoni’s 3/12 helped skittle Masindi cheaply before Judith Nakasaga (17) steered the chase with confidence.

Mt. St. Henry’s High vs Gulu High School – @Layibi College Ground 2
Mt. St. Henry’s 114/8 (20 overs) | Gulu High 60 all out (17 overs)
Mt. St. Henry’s won by 54 runs
Claret Kasemire's composed 53 rescued Mt. St. Henry’s from a slow start. Her innings laid the platform for a successful defense, with Noel Britin Kyaterekera’s 3-wicket haul ensuring Gulu’s batting didn’t take flight.

Sacred Heart SS vs Good Heart SS – @Layibi College Ground
Good Heart SS 42/6 (18 overs) | Sacred Heart SS 44/0 (7.1 overs)
Sacred Heart SS won by 10 wickets
An all-round professional performance from Sacred Heart, who cruised to their second win of the day. Noreen Hanifa and Joyce Lakica picked up two wickets each before openers Genesis Lakareber (23*) and Patricia Anek (16*) chased with ease.

Iganga SS vs Mt. Rwenzori SS – @Layibi Ground
Mt. Rwenzori SS 87/6 (20 overs) | Iganga SS 89/8 (19.1 overs)
Iganga SS won by 2 wickets
Iganga pulled off a narrow victory in a thrilling late-afternoon contest. Chasing 88, they stumbled at times, but held their nerve to cross the line with five balls to spare. Norah Nyakato, Jovaness Muhindo, and Flavia Mbambu gave Mt. Rwenzori a fighting chance, but extras (24) proved decisive.

Jinja SS vs Nyakasura School – @Gulu Prison Ground
Jinja SS 194/1 (20 overs) | Nyakasura 27 all out (10.2 overs)
Jinja SS won by 167 runs
Jinja SS produced a commanding performance, setting the tournament’s highest total courtesy of Mary Namiiro (66) and Elizabeth Acheng (59). Nyakasura had no answers with the bat, folding for just 27. Sheila Namagoba (3/6) and Moureen Abbo (2/3) ran riot with the ball to seal a crushing win.
