Form Guide & Players to Watch:
BC Mwiri, the record champions (19 titles), topped Group B with 28 points and have been unbeaten in the group stage, displaying a solid all-round unit.
- Only Mwiri, among all the other semifinalists, has ever won the trophy in the past.
- Captain Gerald Olipa (224 runs): Dependable in pressure moments and the tournament’s top run-scorer. Olipa also has 618 MVP points, placing him 4th on the MVP chart.
- Eric Mukisa (15 wickets): On top form and currently the fourth-leading wicket-taker in the tournament.
Nyakasura School, runners-up in Group B with 24 points, were semifinalists last year and finalists in 2022. They will hope to win at home. A déjà vu moment looms, as since the tournament left Kampala in 2022, the host schools have gone on to win it.
- Philemon Rwothomio (188 runs & 11 wickets): Leads the team in runs and offers crucial contributions with the ball.
- Steven Aliganyira: Last year’s best bowler, could come alive at any moment.
- Many of the boys also feature for Entale in Division Two of the UCA Men’s League.
St John’s HS Kauga, unbeaten leaders of Group A with 32 points, boast a few Baby Cricket Cranes stars and remain the team to beat:
- Robert Owili (172 runs): Deadly in the middle order.
- Jacson Asiku: Dominant with the ball while opening the bowling and sits atop the MVP chart with 694 points for his all-round excellence.
Shree SSU, Group A runners-up with 22 points, were fortunate to progress after Ntare slipped in the standings and will rely on:
- Sharad Vekariya (140 runs): Solid at the top order.
- Devash Patel (137 runs): Steady leadership, Baby Cricket Cranes experience, and league play with Premier CC make him a big-match player.
- Divya Valan (14 wickets): A key strike bowler and second on the MVP chart with 656 points.
A Grand Finale in the Making
The semifinals promise a mix of power-hitting, crafty spin, and fearless fielding—hallmarks of Uganda’s rising Boys' cricket talent.
The final later tomorrow will feature the two most resilient sides from this intense week-long showcase.
