Wanderers Clinch Vital D/L Win Over JACC in Rain-Hit Thriller at Jinja SS Oval
Wanderers held their nerve to secure a crucial 3-wicket victory over JACC in a rain-affected encounter decided via the Duckworth-Lewis method.
Batting first after winning the toss, JACC failed to build any meaningful partnerships. Timothy Kawagunzi (34 off 60) fought hard alongside skipper Kenneth Waiswa (22 off 19), but tight bowling from Wanderers, spearheaded by Davis Karashani’s outstanding 5/13 in 6.3 overs, saw JACC bundled out for 109 in just 27.3 overs.
Wanderers’ chase started cautiously, but rain interrupted play at 1:45 PM, reducing their innings to 30 overs with a revised target of 85. Despite a mid-innings wobble induced by Henry Ssenyondo’s fiery triple strike, Jaffer Ochaya’s composed 21 and crucial lower-order contributions saw Wanderers edge home at 85/7 in the 26th over.
The victory lifts Wanderers level on 8 points with Rounders in 6th place, keeping their fight against relegation alive.
