ACC v SKLPS
Kings College Budo Oval
10:30am
The battle for top flight resumes this Sunday at the Kings College Budo oval that sees Africa lock horns with SKLPS. The winner in this game shall stand a chance to snatch the second promotion slot where Patidar sits but can be ousted should they slip up.
Patidar in second place has played 10 games and has 42 points while Africa in fifth has played 10 with has 35 points. Africa’s opponents SKLPS sit in fourth after 9 games and with 36 points. The numbers are currently against Africa with their hopes lying in winning all the remaining games as well as hope that Patidar can slip up.
Africa need the services of bullish batsmen Quaraish Kasujja and john Ilukor whose knack for getting runs has seen them help the team when they are most needed. Dan Batuwa and the Kintu Brothers who can turn tables in games equally need to step up and provide all the support they can muster to achieve their goal and also lighten the load for their bowlers.
Astro tuff veteran batsman Robert Okot has confirmed his availability for the game on Sunday and vows to make SKLPS pay. Seam bowlers Emmanuel Odeng, Timothy Erumuka and Collins Okwalinga will have to dry up the runs for SKLPS with stand-in captain Marvin Kitamirike applying the brakes as well with his leg spin.
SLPS will bank on all rounder Meghji Kara and Methan Kalai who have been impressive all season long and will hope to continue their streak when they face the Africa bowlers. Yogeshi Rabadiya whose bowling has been key to them will also have a part to play in limiting the flow of runs during the game.
With both teams still in contention for promotion, only the numbers will tell and numbers do not lie. A result here for either team will only provide a stepping stone for one and a nail in the proverbial coffin for another.
