Aziz Damani v Ceylon Lions

Lugogo Oval

10:30am

With Aziz Damani looking to finish the season at 100%, Ceylon Lions will find this fixture rather tough as a loss for them and a win for KICC will seal their Div 2 status.

Aziz Damani have fired on all cylinders this season and do not look like they are about to let up despite already clinching the title. The match against the Lions will be no different with the champions looking to finish the season unbeaten.

Sai Manoj and Saud Islam will be counted on to produce the standing the rest of the batsmen need. The bowling trio of Emmanuel Isaneez, Riazat Shah, and Henry Ssenyondo who have picked a combined 72 wickets (17, 22 and 33 respectively) will be called upon to see that the Lions are stopped in their efforts.

The last time the two sides met, the Lions almost took the game way from Damani with Simon Ssesazi piling on the pressure. It is only after his wicket fell that the team crumbled to their defeat after coming so close. A repeat performance from Jonathan Ssebanja, Simon Ssesazi, and the Singh brothers (Varinder and Narinder) might help the lions get something out of the game.

The Lions go into the fixture knowing a defeat will in the likelihood seal their relegation unless Premier can do them some favour by keeping KICC within touching distance. Ceylon Lions despite having some of the best players in the Division have failed to put togther consistent performances to help them survive in the league and this might ultimately cost them their Div 1 status.

The odds might be against them but Ceylon Lions have the talent to conjour up a suprise on match day especially with the champions showing some signs of vulnerability in their last few games.
