The Victoria Pearls won their fourth Kwibuka title after a nervous two run against Zimbabwe A in the final. The Victoria Pearls breezed through the round robin stages picking up wins against Kenya, Rwanda, Botswana, Nigeria, Malawi, Zimbabwe A and Cameroon. Rwanda and Nigeria pushed the three time winners but the rest of the games went according to script blowing away Zimbabwe with a team high of 165/2 and Proscovia Alako with a century in the game against Cameroon.
In the final unbeaten Uganda met Zimbabwe A, Uganda won the toss and elected to bat 1st but that decision nearly backfired on them. Uganda lost its top order for cheap with the team railing at 6/3 a brave knock from Proscovia Alako (24) helped to get some runs on the board for Uganda who could only manage 80 in their 20 overs.
In the run chase Zimbabwe A were slow out of the blocks and also lost a three wickets inside six overs including the big wicket of Kelis Ndhlovu but Captain Chidyeza Dhruru and Loryn Phiri combined for a partnership of 48 that swung back the game in the favour of Zimbabwe A. However, the two fell in quick succession and that swung the game back into the favour of Uganda, some inspired bowled from Janet Mbabazi (5/11) at the back end to make sure that the tail does not wag. The young Lorna Anyait holding her nerve to defend eight runs in the final over and give Uganda their fourth title.
Uganda has won the Kwibuka title in 2014, 2016, 2018 and 2024.
Immaculate Nakisuyi and Proscovia Alako made the best team of the tournament for their exploits with the ball.
