Both Challengers CC and K.I.C.C will aim to seal a spot in the finals of the inaugural Unimoni National Men’s T20 Cup this year when they face each other at the Lugogo Cricket Oval on Sunday, December 9th.

On paper, one can say Challengers are overwhelming favorites after their scintillating nine wicket win against one of the tournament favorites Kutchi Tigers in the quarter finals.  But in a game of glorious uncertainties, it will be foolhardy to count K.I.C.C out of equation.

The last time the two sides met, Challengers held on to their mantle to claim a thrilling one run win against their opponents K.I.C.C. If history is anything to go by, K.I.C.C will look forward to the encounter with the belief they can go on and win it this time.

K.I.C.C will be with the league’s biggest run getters in Wassim Butt and Suleiman Sharif who have scored a massive 669 runs between them topping the run standings at one and two with 362 and 307 runs respectively. The return of Mohammed Afridi and Frank Nsubuga from international duty has also upped their strength in both departments.

Their opponents Challengers will boast of Shazhad Kamal who seems to have found his form again after their encounter with Kutchi Tigers last weekend. Along with Shazhad, the Challengers can count on Hamu Kayondo, Mohammed Aneef, Ahmad Naseer and Arthur Kyobe. The bowling department as of last weekend was heavily boosted with the Zimbabwean duo of Tymcen Maruma and Shingi Masakadza who enjoyed their debuts in the league.

Just like their first encounter in the group stages, this game is bound to be one thriller with the winner having a larger stake in the final. But this being a game of cricket, inevitabilities are guaranteed just as the joys and thrills of a T20 can be determined at the very end.
