Uganda Cricket last evening a squad of 20 girls to continue training in preparation for the Global Qualifier due in June in Netherlands. Initially a squad of 33 girls was invited to start training in December but as the time winds down to the qualifiers team management has decided to trim the squad down to 20 girls.

The lady cricket cranes had a build up tour in Tanzania early this year where they managed to win all 5 games but the squad was missing most of the senior players most notebally the MVP Gertrude Candiru.

The team will have a final build up tour to Zimbabwe slated for April this year before they head to Europe for the main event. This is the 1st time the ladies will be competing in a tournament of this size where they play against 2 test playing nations in Ireland and Bangladesh.

The Lady Cricket Cranes overcame a seasoned Zimbabwe side in Namibia to qualify for the Global Qualifiers and also earn the title of African Champions. The team is handled by Francis Ndege as main coach assisted by Grace Mutyagaba.
