Wanderers Vs Aziz Damani

Wanderers 84/6 in 35 Overs (Hilda Kabaseke 34* off 98, Racheal Kagoya 10 off 38, Shakira Sadick 1/23 in 4 Overs) lost to Aziz Damani 87/2 in 15 Overs (Jenifer Nabwana 37* off 49, Sylvia Kinyua 23 off 17, Consy Aweko 2/15 in 7 Overs, Immaculate Nakisuyi 2/18 in 7 Overs) by 8 Wickets.

Player of Match: Sylvia Kinyua (Aziz Damani)

Damani came into the fixture looking for a win with a bonus point if they needed to be crowned as champions. Due to a delay in the start, game was reduced to 35 overs. Wanderers won the toss and decided to have a bat. Knowing that a win in this game keeps them from relegation zone, they knew they had to bat with authority. On the other side, the Damani bowlers knew that keeping the Wanderers side at a low score was the best end of season package they could hand over to their batters.

Hilda Kabaseke (34*) and Racheal Kagoya (10) did their best to keep the runs piling but Consy Aweko with figures of 2/15 in 7 Overs and Immaculate Nakisuyi’s 2/18 in 7 Overs had a better grip of the situation. They had wanderers pinned at 84/6 in 35 overs.

Before the chase, the openers knew how many overs they needed to use so as to secure a bonus point. A task Jenifer Nabwana (37*) and Sylvia Kinyua (23) pulled off perfectly. There was not much resistance from wanderers bowling that could stand in their way.

The win saw Damani crowned the 2018 Jazz Safari Women Champions.

Tornado Bees CC Vs Tornado CC

Tornado Bees 95/9 in 17.1 overs (Sherrypal Kutaaka 45 off 46, Naome Mbwali 8 off 20, Josephine Naiwumbwe 3/11 in 3.5 Overs, Nuru Nakaziba 2/12 in 5 Overs) beat Tornado 77/9 in 23.3 Overs (Alice Namuganga 22 off 36 and 5/2 in 5 overs) by 18 runs.

Player of Match: Alice Namuganga (Tornado)

The Tornado Derby was on dominated by bowlers. Both sides were looking at finishing ahead of the other on the table.

Tornado Bee who had the chance to bat first did post a small score of 95, losing nine wickets in the process in just under 17 overs. Sherrypal Kutaka posted 45 runs to her sides total and that played a crucial role in their victory. Alice Namuganga was the star of the day picking five wickets with her slow bowling that proved problematic for the opponents.

Tornado having limited the Bees to a small score, had to reach target to call it a job well done. Despite good batting efforts from Alice Namuganga who managed to score 22 runs, Josephine Naiwumbwe 3/11 and Nuru Nakaziba 2/12 had better command of the ball. The duo saw Tornado fall at 77.

JACC Vs Ceylon Lions

JACC 44/10 in 14 overs (Racheal Mutesi 13 off 15 and 2/5 in 1 over, Joanita Bafuna 2/8 in 3 Overs) lost to Ceylon Lions 45/5 in 8.5 overs (Patricia Nandera 22 off 27, Eunice Kobusingye 4/9 in 4 Overs, Esther Kayaga 2/13 in 3 Overs) by 5 wickets

Player of Match: Eunice Kobusingye (Ceylon Lions)

Both teams were looking at finishing the season on a high in a fixture that could go either way. JACC who lost the toss were asked to bat first.

With Ceylon bowlers on form, they put JACC in a position that was hard to recover from. Rachel top scoring with 13, was the only one with a clue but no lasting solution to Eunice Kobusingye’s bowling. Eunice who claimed four wickets, left JACC no option but to post 44 all out.

This was an easy win for the Ceylon Lions provided they batted with maximum responsibility. JACC did respond with some resistance.  Racheal Mutesi and Joanita Bafuna claimed two wickets a piece but were not enough to secure JACC victory. Patricia Nandera’s 22 saw Ceylon win the game by five wickets.
