Since she is out of the country on further studies getting Naomi means you have to stay up late so that our time zones can connect. Naomi Kayondo is more famous than her elder brother Hamu Kayondo who features in the mens senior team.

They went through Kings College Buddo and both have similar roles as they are both run getters though Naomi gave wicket keeping a chance before converting to the role of batting all rounder.

Both siblings have gone to forge careers of their own with the senior national sides, However Naomi had an early start joining the national team in her Senior 1 and then playing for the U19 ladies side in her Senior 3.

For a player like Naomi it is impossible to scale such heights without the support of family, her father Dr Edward Kayondo is ever present when either Hamu or Naomi are playing for club or country.

Naomi has juggled a busy career as a valuer with playing cricket at the highest level, and she was part of the successful ladies side that won the African Championship in Namibia in August last year.

A moment she highlights as her fondest memory for all the years she has been with the senior team

I will never forget that tournament in Namibia, We were not favorites as teams like Namibia and Zimbabwe were rated ahead of us, but we had suffered for so long and perhaps this was our moment as a side.

Uganda defeated Zimbabwe in the final by 5 wickets to qualify for the Global Qualifiers in Netherlands which are due later this year. To make sure she is in the plans of the coach Naomi is playing with her Nottingham Trent University side and hopes she can find a place in another club side Bingham Cricket Club.

Yes I believe I will make the Netherlands team, I have been working very hard since i came here to try and adjust to the wickets in Europe. Am signed up for a club to play in the Premier summer league, with that exposure, statistics and by Gods grace I believe I will make the team

A vaccum in leadership on the national team gave Naomi a chance to lead the senior ladies team a job she deligently did for 5 years and now serves as one of the wise heads for young captain Kevin Awino.

While not playing cricket Naomi serves with a big heart as a Rotaractor with the Rotaract Club of Kampala Ssese Islands where she also served as Vice President before leaving for further studies.

She has served as team Manager of the 1st U23 ladies side a role that prepares her for future roles in administration once she decides to stop playing.

As she continues to pursue her Msc In Real Estate at Nottingham Trent University she stays in shape doing marathon runs and playing indoor cricket during autum and winter since October when she set foot in the UK.
