Rwanda Cricket Association has contracted Kenyan Legend Martin Suji on a short deal from March till June as they prepare to host the East African t20 World Cup Tournament. The news of his appointment was shared on social media in a welcome tweet by former Rwanda Cricket Association President Charles Habba.

Martin Suji enjoyed success as coach of the cricket cranes between 2011 and 2013 helping the cricket cranes qualify for the 2015 ICC World Cup Qualifiers.  He is credited with introducing alot of young players to the cricket cranes set up and his experience with the youth will be key in handling the youthful Rwanda side.

Rwanda has made great strides over the past 2 years under former Ugandan International Davis Turinawe with their most memorable moment coming at home in the inaugural Cricket Builds Hope T20 tournament in 2017

Rwanda will be competing against Kenya, Uganda and Tanzania who are all ranked higher than them, the appointment of Suji means that Rwanda dont want to just make up the numbers but compete at the qualifiers.

Rwanda is making big strides towards developing the game in the country, they recently opened Gahanga Cricket Stadium a state of the art cricket facility a 1st of its kind in East Africa which will be the main host of the qualifiers.
