Uganda Cricket today named the 13 man squad that will represent Uganda in the Africa T20 Cup in South Africa. The 13 man squad includes three reserve plays who will be joining the team after the tournament.

Uganda were confirmed as late entrants to the continental show piece after Ghana pulled out due to logistical issues. Uganda and Nigeria will be making their maiden appearance at the event with the cricket cranes using the tournament as build up to the Div 3 WCL qualifiers in Oman later this year.

The 13 man squad has only one new face with Zephaniah Arinaitwe being rewarded for his good form with the U19 side with a recall, he replaces Ronak Patel who was unavailable for selection. Uganda will come up against some tough opponents in the tournament but the team will want to leave a great mark at their debut tournament.

The consistent Henry Ssenyondo misses out on the final 13 with but is among the reserves who will be part of the 50 over leg of the trip. Simon Ssesazi who had a poor show at the Div 4 WCL qualifiers in Malaysia is recalled to the side after he missed out on the Africa B qualifiers in Rwanda and he is part of the reserves that will join the team after the tournament.

Uganda will be spend more time in South Africa after the tournament to play some build up games with South African franchise sides as they prepare for the Div 3 WCL qualifiers in Oman.

The three reserve players will join the rest of the side for the games after the tournament as the technical team gives a chance to the whole squad before naming the final 14 for the Div 3 WCL qualfiers in Oman.
