Uganda Cricket Association (UCA) officials, led by Chairman Jackson Kavuma and Operations Manager Joshua Mwanja, earlier this week returned from the ICC Africa Region Members Conference held in Dar es Salaam, Tanzania from April 25–26, 2025.
The high-level conference, hosted by Tanzania Cricket Association and facilitated by ICC Africa Development Officer Justine Ligyalingi, convened representatives from 19 of 22 ICC Associate and 2 Full Members on the continent. The theme, “Mutual Cooperation for Global Domination,” captured the ambition to elevate African cricket through stronger governance, strategic collaboration, and legacy-building programs.
The workshop was marked by interactive presentations, expert panels, and in-depth discussions focused on long-term cricket development, player pathways, administrative professionalism, and continental representation. Uganda’s delegation engaged in key sessions around ICC’s 2027 World Cup Legacy Program and the integration of cricket into the African Games.
“From governance to performance enhancement and commercial innovation, this was a catalyst for change,” said UCA Operations Manager Joshua Mwanja. “We’ve come away with replicable models that will strengthen our structures and boost grassroots and elite development.”
Chairman Jackson Kavuma highlighted Uganda’s intent to actively participate in the 2027 Legacy Program. “Every member nation will select one key program to implement with 50% ICC support. We’ll soon hold board discussions to finalize Uganda’s focus area. Engagement with Full Members like South Africa and Zimbabwe is also on the cards for coaching and game-time support,” he said.

The meeting also reviewed ACA constitutional amendments, with members expected to give final feedback by May 5, 2025, ahead of elections slated for July. Former UCA Chairman Michael Nuwagaba currently represents Uganda on the ACA interim board and may continue subject to member consensus. Uganda’s cricket fraternity, stakeholders, partners, and the public are assured of UCA’s continued commitment to fostering excellence, transparency, and sustainable development in line with ICC and ACA frameworks.
