Wanderers’ skipper Denis Musali won the toss and elected to bat first at the basket size oval in Budo. An over later, Wanderers were a man down. Soon another fell. And another. And another.

Wanderers batsmen were no match for Tonado’s pacemen Cosmas Kyewuta and Trevor Bukenya, they were picked off one by one like ducks in a row.

Once again, Denis Musali was left to try and save his sinking ship. Joined by Taha, for a few overs the pair gave the Wanderers’ dugout a glimpse of hope. The partnership came to sudden death when Musali attempted to drive Gabula John’s darts. The result was a dolly catch at point and the end of Wanderers’ last stand.

Joseph Byaruhanga’s 21/26 to get Wanderers closer to a triple score ended in hapless fashion when he was caught at midweek, after failing to dispatch Trevor Bukenya’s signature shot pitches further.

Wanderers’ humiliation was as brief as cock’s carnal undertakings, ending at a measly 87 runs in 26.5 overs.

Tornado’s young brigade made light work of the chase but at a loss of 4 wickets. After quick collapses of their opening pair, Skipper Brian Adriko to charge of affairs. Together with his talisman Gabula John, the pair steered Tonado to a hasty victory, dispatching full pitched deliveries with finesse. The chase was done in 14.3 overs.

The Derby was marred with controversy when umpire Mathias erratically dismissed Nirav Hathi in the second over, claiming contact where there was none, certainly to the jubilation of Tonado. But he wasn’t done making a case for his incompetence. He once again dismissed Mukaya Sherma prematurely off David Kateyenge dicey in swingers.

Tornado that picked up their 3rd win will be looking to build on this momentum while the temperamental Wanderers need to find consistency, or else suffer relegation humiliation.
