Uganda Cricket Association together with the Uganda Cricket Association Umpires and Scorers Association have organised a memorial game in remembrance of the late Francis Ekalungar. 

The late Francis Ekalungar was the chairman of the umpires and scorers association at the time of his passing as well as a elder in the cricket fraternity.

The late Ekalungar was also a member of Africa Cricket Club (ACC) the oldest cricket club in Uganda and a member of the hash harriers running group.

The soft spoken Francis Ekalungar stood in his 1st international match as umpire in 2001 in Canada at the same tournament the cricket cranes made their maiden international appearance. 

The late at the time of his death was an employer of Case Hospital and his former colleagues organised a memorial mass today in remembrance of his soul.

The memorial game will be an annual fixture to be organised in the first weekend of January with the best umpire and scorer being awarded the Francis Ekalungar awards of excellence. 

The game will played on Sunday 6/01/2019 at Lugogo Cricket Oval with action starting at 2pm. A select team from the umpires and scorers association will play against ACC.
