2025 UCA NATIONAL MEN’S 50 OVER LEAGUE – MATCHDAY 13 PREVIEW

Weekend Of June 28-29, 2025

THE BUILD-UP!

As the league barrels into Matchday 13, stakes have never been higher. Just a handful of rounds remain before playoffs and relegation are sealed. In Division One, giants battle for supremacy and survival alike, while Division Two’s promotion races intensify. Expect thrills, upsets, and careers defined this weekend.

SATURDAY – JUNE 28, 2025 – DIVISION ONE FIXTURE

Aboojo vs Rounders – Entebbe Cricket Oval, 10am

Fight for Survival

These two sides lock horns in a must-win clash at Entebbe. Their first-round meeting at Lugogo saw Aboojo flex their all-round muscle – posting 198 in 44.1 overs courtesy of Brian Asaba (38) and Mathew Musinguzi (39). Rounders’ Zubair Tembo threatened with a sharp 4/36, but their chase imploded.

Musinguzi returned with the ball to claim a ferocious 5-for-27, as Rounders folded for 126 despite Ronald Puwata’s blistering 72 off 51 balls, giving Aboojo a commanding 72-run win.

This weekend, Aboojo come in after a tied thriller against Wanderers, sitting fourth with 9 points from 10 games. Rounders, fresh off stunning Tornado Bee with a morale-boosting win, are seventh with 6 points. Expect a tense, nerve-filled scrap to avoid the drop.

SUNDAY – JUNE 29, 2025 – DIVISION ONE FIXTURES

JACC vs Kutchi Tigers – Jinja SS Oval, 10am

Heavyweight Rematch

Last time these two met, defending champions Kutchi Tigers edged JACC by 20 runs in a gritty contest defined by Nitin Jeshani’s explosive 84 off 84 balls and a disciplined bowling effort that dismantled JACC’s chase at 173 in 42.1 overs.

Both sides arrive after abandoned games last weekend. JACC (third with 13 points from 9 games) boasts 6 wins, 1 tie, and 2 losses, while Kutchi Tigers (second with 14 points from 9 games) have 6 wins, 2 ties, and just 1 loss.

With the league truly in its business end, this battle at Jinja promises fireworks and tactical brilliance.

Tornado Bee vs Ceylon Lions – Serenity Oval, Kamengo, 10am

David vs Goliath at Kamengo

Top-of-the-table Ceylon Lions host fifth-placed Tornado Bee in their first clash of the season. Ceylon leads with 14 points from 9 games and remain fresh after last week’s washout.

Tornado Bee, reeling from a heavy 103-run loss to Rounders, must regroup quickly to challenge Ceylon’s disciplined and clinical unit. Expect calculated aggression as Tornado Bee seek redemption while the Lions look to roar towards having a stranglehold of the league summit.

SUNDAY – JUNE 29, 2025 – DIVISION TWO FIXTURES

SKLPS vs St. John’s Mukono – Florida Oval, 10am

Crunch Time in Group B

This first-ever meeting pits mid-table hopefuls SKLPS against struggling St. John’s Mukono. SKLPS were awarded full points via forfeit last weekend, boosting their playoff hopes. St. John’s haven’t played since June 8, when they suffered a crushing 261-run defeat to GM Sugar.

Will SKLPS consolidate their position, or can St. John’s script an unlikely revival?

Kutchi Tigers B vs Nile – Entebbe Cricket Oval, 10am

Top Teams Collide

Division Two Group A witnesses a mouthwatering clash as Kutchi Tigers B face bogey-side Nile CC (5 points from 4 games), in their maiden showdown.

Nile have been rampant this season, dismantling opponents with ruthless efficiency as they raked in points. Kutchi Tigers B,  (4 points from 2 games) meanwhile, are building momentum of their own, making this fixture a potential classic with promotion implications.
