In a debut season to remember, GM Sugar and Kutchi Tigers B made strong impressions by topping their respective groups—GM Sugar finishing first in Group B, and Kutchi Tigers B leading Group A.

While only GM Sugar went on to secure promotion, both teams demonstrated exceptional promise in their first campaign.

Joining GM Sugar in promotion are the Mukono Warriors, who earned their ticket to Division One in just their second league appearance—a rapid rise built on grit, resilience, and explosive performances.

GM Sugar’s Sweet Finish

After a dominant group-stage run, GM Sugar carried their form into the qualifier, facing fellow debutants Kutchi Tigers B.

The Tigers, despite topping Group A, walked into the do-or-die clash with equal parts confidence and nerves.

Batting first, they posted a modest 141, thanks to patient knocks from Rohit Hirani (31) and Navin Pindoria (38). But GM Sugar’s bowling unit—led by Nimeshkumar and Hevin—kept the scoring tight and pressure high.

The chase, however, started poorly for GM Sugar. Three quick wickets threatened to unravel their campaign.

Enter Rahulkumar Pravinbhai Patel: composed, clinical, and completely unfazed.

His unbeaten 58 off 44 balls anchored the innings, guiding GM Sugar to victory in just 25.3 overs with five wickets in hand.

For GM Sugar, it was the perfect cap to a near-flawless debut season.

For Kutchi Tigers B, the exit was bittersweet—group toppers, yet just shy of the final step.

Mukono Warriors: Storming Through Delays and Doubts

The Mukono Warriors’ path to promotion was anything but smooth.

Their first Eliminator clash with Nile CC was twice postponed—first due to rain, then due to a waterlogged outfield at Serenity Oval.

But when play finally resumed on September 7, Mukono seized the moment.

They posted a gritty 171, before Harsh Panchal unleashed a spellbinding performance with the ball—claiming six wickets and tearing through Nile’s top order.

Nile CC crumbled to 64/9, and Mukono sealed a dominant 107-run victory.

In the second Eliminator, the Warriors faced Kutchi Tigers B—still reeling from their loss to GM Sugar.

Mukono’s top order struck hard and fast, with explosive cameos from Harsh Panchal (49 off 33) and Kalpesh Jeshani (29 off 16) powering them to 195 in just 30.5 overs.

Kutchi’s chase got off to a disastrous start, slumping to 37/4.

But Navin Pindoria fought back heroically with a brilliant 86 off 77, injecting late hope into the game.

Still, Mukono’s bowling unit, spearheaded by Hardik Donga and Mepani Rajesh (three wickets each), held their nerve.

Kutchi fell 12 runs short, and Mukono earned their place in Division One.

Eyes on the Final: GM Sugar vs Mukono Warriors

Now, the stage is set for a thrilling Division Two Final this Sunday between GM Sugar and Mukono Warriors—two sides that have defied expectations and rewritten the script in their rise to the top.

Both teams boast compelling narratives. GM Sugar: dominant in Group B, methodical, and efficient throughout. Mukono Warriors: forged in adversity, battle-tested, and fearless.

Please note that both teams were in Group B, and when they met, GM Sugar won by 118 runs.

The final, set to be played this Sunday at Entebbe Cricket Oval, will not only crown the Division Two champion but also reveal which of these emerging contenders might be ready to make waves in Division One.

Elsewhere in the League…

In Division One, Kutchi Tigers Cricket Club were crowned champions for the second consecutive season, reaffirming their dominance at the top of Uganda’s cricketing hierarchy.

At the other end of the table, Wanderers Cricket Club and Avengers Cricket Club were relegated, unable to keep pace in a highly competitive field.
