21 Teams, 4 Groups, 1 Champion – The Road to the UG20 Title Begins
After the close of the Division One League a month ago and the Division Two final set for this Sunday, all eyes now turn to the highly anticipated Men’s UG20 Tournament, which kicks off this weekend.
The competition brings together 21 teams, grouped into four pools, all competing for national glory in Uganda’s flagship T20 cricket event.
Tournament Format & Structure
- 21 Teams divided into 4 groups based on their 2024 UG20 rankings — no draws were needed.
- Double-headers format: Morning games at 10:00 AM, afternoon matches at 2:00 PM.
- After the double round-robin group stage, the top two teams from each group advance to:
- Quarter-finals
- Semi-finals
- Grand Final

Rounders vs Aboojo – Entebbe Cricket Oval
Rounders, last year’s finalists, open their campaign against Aboojo.
Aboojo will be missing key players: Innocent Mwebaze, Benjamin Baguma (both with Cricket Cranes in South Africa), and Pascal Murungi (on tour in Zimbabwe).
JACC vs Jinja SS – Jinja SS Oval
A long-awaited Jinja derby.
JACC will be without 50-over captain Kenneth Waiswa, currently away.
Mukono Development vs Africa CC – Florida Oval
Africa CC, returns after missing the 50-over league.
The team will mainly feature young talent from the Mukono cricket community.
This is the first-ever meeting between these two sides.
Sunday, 21st September
Nile vs Kutchi Tigers B – Jinja SS Oval
These sides last met in a 50-over game, which Nile won by 54 runs.
Kutchi Tigers B make their T20 debut.
Ronald Lutaya returns to Nile after training in South Africa.
Tornado vs Avengers – Serenity Oval, Kamengo
Tornado, last year’s semi-finalists, face Avengers, who reached the quarter-finals.
Ismaili Community vs Premier – GM Sugar Oval
A crucial opening match for both sides in the competitive Group C.
Budo vs SKLPS – Florida Oval
These teams haven’t met recently and are expected to put on a thrilling contest.
