We are delighted to announce John Walusimbi as our CEO for the next 3 years. John takes over the role from Alan Mugume who has served Uganda Cricket Association as CEO since July 2022.
John takes over the role in a historic year for the association with the participation of the Cricket Cranes at the T20 World Cup in June this year. While the Cricket Cranes will be at the World Cup there is a chance of the Victoria Pearls of making history by qualifying for the World Cup via the Global Qualifiers in April in Dubai. Uganda’s maiden World Cup appearance should leave a legacy and John and his team will be tasked in ensuring that the World Cup leaves a lasting legacy on the game in Uganda.
Prior to joining Uganda Cricket, John held key leadership positions at several renowned companies, where he successfully implemented strategic initiatives, drove operational excellence, and fostered a culture of innovation and collaboration

John Walusimbi Short Bio:
John Sempa Walusimbi, a dynamic leader with over 15 years of experience in both the Logistics World and the Financial sector, brings a wealth of expertise to Uganda Cricket Association. His distinguished career includes key leadership roles at renowned logistics companies, where he spearheaded strategic initiatives, promoted operational excellence, and fostered a culture of innovation and collaboration.
With a solid educational background including a Bachelor's degree in Quantitative Economics from Makerere University and an MBA in International Business from Coventry University, UK, John has refined his skills in strategic vision, planning, resource mobilization, and operational management. He has also undergone specialized leadership training from institutions such as the KCB Leadership Centre in Kenya.
During his tenure as General Manager at Blink Logistics (U) Limited, John played a pivotal role in driving regional expansion strategies and optimizing logistics operations to meet corporate objectives. His track record includes successful negotiation of key business deals, effective revenue monitoring, and implementation of strategic trade facilitation initiatives.
In his previous role as Finance & AG General Manager at Blink Logistics (U) Ltd, John demonstrated exceptional proficiency in optimizing financial operations, crisis management, and strategic decision-making. He successfully implemented cost-saving measures, enhanced operational efficiency, and ensured financial stability.
Prior to his roles at Blink Logistics, John served as a Senior Operations Manager at KCB Uganda Limited, where he established robust operational systems, built high-performance teams, and maintained impeccable audit ratings.
With his wealth of experience and leadership expertise, John is as well a Sports Enthusiast with a passion for facilitating commercial knowledge transfer and skills development. I am available, accessible, committed and dedicated to driving progress, fostering innovation and recognizing the NexGen of High-Performance individuals and i will lead Uganda Cricket Association towards continued growth and success.
