The allure of a rare chance to either stretch a hand to bowl an over or a swing the willow for a sweet connection over the boundary ropes cannot be taken lightly.
It is on this context that hundreds of ‘veterans’ codenamed ‘Bagurusi’ are expected to throng the lakeside oval in Entebbe on Saturday March 10 for a game of cricket.
The meet is re-energised this month with a full house of cricketers involving the elite class of the late 80s and early 90s strutting out their stuff on a beautiful oval that has a traditional English setting.
Top honchos meet
A host of former Uganda Cricket Association (UCA) top honchos including Latimer Mukasa, Daniel Ligyalingi, William Kibuukamusoke and current Chairman Bashir ‘Badu’ Ansasiira will lead the star cast this weekend in this social gathering game that started 10 years ago.
Over the years, the Bagurusi matches have become popular among the elders and the UCA have made them a monthly fixture so that those that and still serve the game can always catch up and reminisce the good golden days.
The pre-match toss for the 30-Over per innings affair will be conducted at 1pm with the first ball scheduled for 1.30pm. You cannot miss this rubber that will have lots of fun, a cocktail of banter, fun games for the kids and everything to eat and drink till late in the night.
