Tornado B batting faces Rounders test

In comparison with last year, there have been a significant shift in efforts from Charity Trust Fund’s youthful side in the Division One National 50-Over League.

After four matches, the side lies in second position with 18 points on the eight-team log. They have even been more convincing than table leaders Tornado B (22).
Despite being unbeaten, there are signs that the lights are slowly dimming out on the reigning champions Tornado B’s two-year dominance.

Just a couple of weeks ago, they lost on the pitch but ‘won on technicalities’ in their last fixture against Charity three weeks ago.

Whereas Charity have a chance to make a fourth win against coach Habibu Mugalula’s Jinja SS at Kyambogo, Tornado B will hope to revive themselves against Jinja-based Rounders at Lugogo Oval today.

“Since the start of the season, every team has been coming hard at us but we have managed to scrap through,” Tornado B skipper Jeremy Kibuukamusoke said. “We want to make a statement that we are still the team to beat.”

But following a dismal outing in last weekend’s seven-wicket loss to Wanderers at Lugogo, Rounders’ captain Narinder Singh has already promised a better show on return to Kampala.

“We will be better with both bat and ball than we were against Wanderers,” said Singh, who leads Rounders’ batsmen with 128 runs.

Should Rounders triumph, Charity can go top if they win. “At the moment, we just have to keep winning our matches. Pressure will catch up with Tornado B at some point,” said Charity’s Jonathan Ssebanja
